Hi there, I’ve had a few new faces join recently so wanted to make sure you all knew who the human was behind this account.
My name is Siobhan, and I have a PhD in Child Developmental Psychology. This means that I study and am an ‘expert’ on children’s cognitive, social & emotional development. In my research I focus specifically on infants and the baby-mother relationship.
Whilst I love science and the academic pursuit of finding answers to the important questions, I’ve always struggled with how often research is disconnected from the people it’s designed to help.
After having a little bub of my own, I became more aware about how little of the information given to parents is evidence-based. So, I decided to do something about it and started Science Minded.
I want to help bridge the gap between parents’ desire for factual, well-researched information and the evidence-base & findings that are out there.
I research all my post in depth, reading widely & thoroughly on each topic. Knowledge is power and when we have access to information that is clear, concise and makes sense to us, we can feel more confident in our choices.
On the more human side of this equation, here’s a bit about me! The love of my life is a glorious redhead. Our son was born with dark hair but it's getting redder by the day 🤞🏻 I’m a terrible cook but a good baker, I’m a fiend for a cheese board and my favourite colour is green.
I’d love to hear more about you - what’s a fun fact about you, your little one or even your favourite colour?
